The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, it was relaunched on February 15, 2013 by Billy @ the Ramblings of a coffee addict. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.
This week's topic is What was your favorite genre to read a child? Do you still read that genre, or do you read something else now?
I don't remember much of what I read as a child, other than The Hobbit which I read many times but never got into The Lord Of The Rings. From what I recall, I do think I read a lot more fantasy when I was younger, there were definitely plenty of dragons and lots of books about the ocean, sailing, etc. I don't read very much of these any more and, over the last couple of weeks realising that, I've added a lot more mermaid-y and dragon-y books to my TBR. I may even give The Lord Of the Rings another go!
I mostly read a lot of crime, mystery and thriller books now. I discovered these as a teenager - I was 13 or so when the Da Vinci Code movie came out and the books were everywhere. I got it out of the library, devoured it in a couple of days, discovered a whole new genre with the help of some amazing librarians who found me books to read and fell in love.
I haven't read very much recently but I'm slowly getting back into it - re-reading some crime favourites, mostly Karin Slaughter, Val McDermid and Kathy Reichs but also looking forward to discovering some new crime, new fantasy, new mystery, new thriller and maybe even trying some new genres, expand my horizons and see what's out there!
